For the second straight day, the Adirondack Thunder roster would see some changes as on Thursday, we saw a player come back from the Utica Comets, a player got suspended, and another body got added to the IR.
Easton Brodzinski Suspended
Just over 24 hours after being acquired from the Allen Americans, forward Easton Brodzinski has been suspended by the Adirondack Thunder. There are a few reasons for this, including possibly failing to report to the team or the possibility of him going overseas. The Blaine, Minnesota native has spent three seasons in the ECHL, including his first season with the Jacksonville Icemen and the last two seasons with the Americans, as he’s put up 41 goals and 41 assists for 82 points in 136 ECHL games, as well as adding four goals and six assists for 10 points in 11 career Kelly Cup Playoff Games. This is a huge loss for Adirondack, as Brodzinski was expected to be a big part of the Thunder.
Kurt Gosselin Sent Back To Adirondack
The Adirondack Thunder would get some good news on Thursday as the Utica Comets would send Kurt Gosselin back down to the Thunder. Gosselin was in the lineup for the Comets last Friday vs Rochester Americans, and it was his first AHL game since April 24th, 2019. In 20 games this season with Adirondack, Gosselin has put up two goals and four assists for six points, along with 34 penalty minutes. I would expect the Brighton, Michigan native to be in the Thunder lineup tomorrow night and be expected to play big minutes like he has all season.
Tag Bertuzzi To 14-Day IR
In the least surprising news of the day, the Thunder have placed Tag Bertuzzi on IR. This doesn’t come as a shock, as Bertuzzi was injured in a fight against Mason Klee in Tuesday’s game vs Worcester Railers. Bertuzzi, who was given a game misconduct for not having his jersey tucked in, would also leave the ice in considerable pain. When asked about the injury post-game, Head Coach Pete MacArthur mentioned that it didn’t look good and immediately ruled him out for tomorrow’s game vs Trois-Rivieres Lions. Bertuzzi has five goals and five assists in 10 games with the Thunder this year and has been a bright spot offensively. The 23-year-old winger has also played in six games with the Utica Comets this season but hasn’t found the scoresheet at the AHL Level.
