The Adirondack Thunder began the week by getting a defenseman back from the Utica Comets and announcing their third trade in as many weeks.
Adirondack and Tulsa Make A Deal
The Adirondack Thunder and Tulsa Oilers struck a deal on Monday as they acquired Kishaun Gervais from the Oilers in exchange for Easton Brodzinski. This comes after the Thunder acquired Brodzniski from the Allen Americans and then suspended him from the team shortly after. Adirondack was able to make the best out of a bad situation and would end up making all the parties involved happy, as Brodzniski can now stay out west.
Gervais, 23, is in his second pro season after putting up 13 goals and nine assists for 22 points in 52 games last season with the Oilers. The Yorkton, Saskatchewan native began the 2024-25 with Roki, where he put up six goals and two assists for eight points in 21 games before returning to North America. I expect him to be a solid piece in the middle six for the Thunder and bring some more offense to Adirondack. In nine games with Tulsa this season, he’s put up four goals and an assist for five points.
Prior to going pro, Gervais spent the majority of his time in the SJHL and WHL. In 96 games with the Yorkton Terriers of the SJHL, he would put up 32 goals and 34 assists for 66 points. He would also spend parts of two seasons with the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL, where he put up nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points in 50 games.
Jackson van de Leest Back From Utica
The Utica Comets have sent Jackson van de Leest back to the Adirondack Thunder. In his latest stint with the Comets, he played in four games, failing to find the scoresheet; the 6’7 defenseman has played in six games with Utica this season. In 12 games with Adirondack this season, he has had two assists and 24 PIMS. Van de Leest will provide some more size and ECHL experience on the Thunder blue line heading into the weekend.
James Marooney heads to reserve to make room for van de Leest on the active roster. The rookie defenseman has played in 23 games with Adirondack while putting up four assists.
