The Adirondack Thunder made a few transactions on Wednesday before their home opener against the Trois-Rivieres Lions on Saturday Night. Adirondack would send one defensemen to reserve, while sending another one to IR, while also adding a forward from the Utica Comets.
Two Defenseman Headed to Reserve
Adirondack has announced that newly acquired forward Brendan Pepe has been placed on the 14-day IR with an undisclosed injury. Pepe, 28, was acqurired off waivers from the Bloomington Bison after playing in the only pre-season game that Bloomington had. Pepe was expected to be a solid piece on a young Adirondack blueline after being named the Defenseman of the Year last season in Roanoke where he put up 13 goals and 28 assists for 41 points in 56 games.
Defenseman James Marooney heads to reserve after playing his first two professional games last weekend with the Norfolk Admirals. The 25-year-old blueliner had previously spent the last five seasons at the NCAA level including four years at Ohio State University and a year at the University of St. Thomas where he put up one goal and 19 assists for 20 points in 95 career NCAA games.
Help From Utica
The Utica Comets have send forward Dylan Wendt to Adirondack Thunder after playing in two games this season with Utica as he has one assist in two games so far this season at the AHL level. Wendt, 23, is entering his first full professional season after spending three years at Western Michigan Univeristy where he put up 33 goals and 36 assists for 69 points in 111 games and was a nominee for the Hobey Baker Award last season. Prior to playing at the NCAA level, he spent four years at the USHL level with the Green Bay Gamblers and Muskegon Lumberjacks where he put up 28 goals and 69 assists for 97 points in 155 games. I would the Grand Haven, Michigan native to be in the lineup on Saturday Night.
