Forward Alex D’Aoust is heading overseas for the third time in his career as he spent the 2020-21 season in Slovakia and played in Sweden and Germany during the 2022-23 season. He will be heading to the UK this time to join the Manchester Storm. He becomes the seventh player from the Fort Wayne Komets to take the overseas since the season ended, joining Tyler Parks, Ture Linden, Zach Andrusiak, Brogan O’Brien, and Martin Has. Despite this, Fort Wayne has been one of the busier teams this off-season, as they already have 23 players signed to contracts for next season.
The 28-year-old forward has spent four seasons in the ECHL, putting up 59 goals and 64 assists for 123 points in 154 games while making stops with the Jacksonville Icemen, Trois-Rivieres Lions, and Fort Wayne Komets. He would add three goals and two assists for five points in seven career Kelly Cup Playoff Games. D’Aoust has also seen 124 games of AHL action with the Utica Comets, Manitoba Moose, Charlotte Checkers, Belleville Senators, Providence Bruins, Lehigh Valley Phantoms, and Grand Rapid Griffins.
Prior to going pro, the Trois-Rivières native spent five years in the QMJHL with the Shawinigan Cataractes, putting up 113 goals and 128 assists for 241 points in 299 games at the QMJHL level. He would wear an “A” for the Cataractes during the 2014-15 season. The following season, he would be named to the QMJHL Second All-Star Team. D’Aoust would add 16 goals and 24 assists for 40 points in 38 QMJHL Playoff Games.
