Fan favorite and top player for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits during the 2022-2023 season, Alex Ierullo, is heading to Italy this upcoming season, joining the Asiago Hockey Club of the win2day Ice Hockey League. The team released a statement towards the end of June announcing the signing. The Asiago “Sports Manager” Renato Tessari had this to say about Ierullo. “He is a complete player as well as a powerplay specialist. He is a ready and experienced player. He has great playmaker skills, despite being a winger, but he is also very good in the scoring phase. Alex has an ever-growing career, as evidenced by the numbers of university and the first years of professionalism.”

Ierullo was born on July 30, 1997, in Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada. Listed at 5’9 and 174 pounds, Ierullo primarily plays left wing, where it appears he will continue to play in Italy. Ierullo did help at Center at times during the season for the Swamp Rabbits.

Ierullo led all Swamp Rabbits in points this year with a total of 87 points (27 goals and 60 assists). Ierullo was named an All-Star in his first year in the league, along with being named to the ECHL all-rookie team, as well as being added to the ECHL all-second team for the season.

The scoring and playmaking ability of Ierullo will be missed in Greenville this year. However, fans will wish the best of luck to Ierullo and thank him for the great season they were able to experience.
