ECHL: Alexis Gravel Named Goaltender of the Week (Dec. 16th-22nd)

Alexis Gravel of the Orlando Solar Bears has been named the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the period of December 16-22. Over the past week, Gravel had posted an impressive record of 2-0-1, which included one shutout, a goals-against average of 1.29, and an outstanding save percentage of .969 across three games.

Hailing from Val-des-Sources, Quebec, Gravel holds a record of 7-4-3 in 14 games with the Solar Bears this season. He leads the league with a .938 save percentage and ranks eighth with a goals-against average of 2.20.

The 24-year-old goalie made 35 saves during a 2-1 overtime defeat against Jacksonville on Wednesday, followed by 38 saves in a 3-2 win over Savannah on Saturday. He capped off the week with a remarkable performance on Sunday, stopping a league-leading 52 shots in a 5-0 victory against South Carolina. This shutout marked the first of Gravel’s professional career.

For the previous three seasons, Gravel played at the University of Quebec Trois-Rivières, where he posted a record of 38-11-1 over 53 games, achieving eight shutouts, a 1.97 goals-against average, and a .932 save percentage. Before that, he spent five seasons with Halifax in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League, appearing in 198 games and achieving an overall record of 89-79-13, with seven shutouts, a 3.31 goals-against average, and a .897 save percentage.

Gravel’s recent performances have not only earned him weekly honors but also highlighted his potential to be a key player in the league. His ability to deliver under pressure and maintain high performance levels makes him a standout goaltender to watch.
