ECHL: Allen Americans Re-Sign Defenseman and Forward

The Allen Americans have announced that they have re-signed 6’3″ defenseman Hudson Wilson and 5’11” forward Harrison Blaisdell.

Hudson Wilson’s Career

Hudson Wilson started his junior career in the CCHL with the Kanata Lasers, where he played in 19 games, registering two goals and six assists with 19 penalty minutes. He then went to the OHL, where he finished his junior career playing for the Ottawa 67’s and Peterborough Petes. In 266 OHL games, Wilson had six goals and 59 assists with 168 penalty minutes and a +61. In 28 playoff games, he had one goal and seven assists with 11 penalty minutes and a +7. Wilson served as an alternate captain for the 67’s in the 2018-19 season.

The Toronto, Ontario native then started his collegiate career at Acadia University in USports, where he spent four seasons and served as an alternate captain in his final season. Wilson only played in three seasons after the 2020-21 season was cancelled due to COVID. But through 70 games played, he had three goals and ten assists for 13 points with 62 penalty minutes and a -2.

After completing his collegiate career, Wilson signed overseas in Poland, where he started his professional career, playing in two games with Podhale Nowy Targ. Wilson then came back to North America and signed with the ECHL’s Allen Americans. In 65 games with the Americans, Wilson had three goals and eight assists for 11 points with 31 penalty minutes and a -34.

Harrison Blaisdell’s Career

Harrison Blaisdell started his junior career in the 2017-18 season playing in the BCHL with the Chilliwack Chiefs. He spent two seasons with the Chiefs, playing in 100 games, where he had 42 goals and 37 assists for 79 points with 69 penalty minutes. In 18 playoff games, he had two goals and five assists with ten penalty minutes.

Blaisdell then went on to play Division I hockey in the US, starting his career at the University of North Dakota. In 51 games with the Fighting Hawks, he registered two goals and 14 assists for 16 points with 26 penalty minutes and a +10. Blaisdell and the Fighting Hawks were the NCHC Regular Season Champions in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 season, and also won the NCHC Frozen Faceoff in the 2020-21 season.

Blaisdell then transferred to the University of New Hampshire, where he spent the final three seasons of his collegiate career and served as an alternate captain in his senior season. In 89 games with the Wildcats, Blaisdell had 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points with 22 penalty minutes and a -11.

After completing his collegiate career, Blaisdell signed with the ECHL’s Allen Americans. Through 50 games played, he had four goals and six assists for ten points with 20 penalty minutes and a -6.

Both Wilson and Blaisdell are coming off their rookie seasons, in which both players did pretty well. Now that they have both had a season to learn the ways and physicality of the ECHL, they should be able to start to find success offensively and defensively.
