The Allen Americans have re-signed goaltender Marco Costantini for the 2024-25 season. Costantini began the 2023-24 season in the SPHL with the Knoxville Ice Bears before making a quick stop with the Idaho Steelheads, where he made three saves in his first career ECHL, stopping three shots against the Allen Americans before heading back to Knoxville. On January 15th, Costantini would sign with the Americans, spending the rest of the season in Allen, making 24 appearances, going 13-6-1 with a 3.19 GAA, .913SV%, and one shutout. He would go 1-1-1 with a 3.70 GAA and .895SV% in three games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Prior to the 2023-24 season, The Ontario native spent four seasons in the OHL with the Hamilton Bulldogs and Kitchener Rangers as he put up a 65-41-15 record with a 3.18 GAA, .898SV%, and 10 shutouts. He would win an OHL championship in 2022 with the Bulldogs as he put up a 31-9-4 record with a 2.32 GAA, .917SV%, and six shutouts; he led the OHL in GAA, SV%, and shutouts that season.
“Having Marco (Costantini) back is really exciting for us,” noted Americans Head Coach B.J. Adams. “I coached against him in junior hockey, and I know he can play in high pressure situations, as he took his team to a league championship. We are looking forward to seeing him build off a successful first season.”
Allen Americans Head Coach B.J. Adams on the re-signing of Costantini
As the Americans look ahead at the 2024-25 season, it will feature a new head coach and a new NHL affiliate that will be announced soon. There’s no question that the Americans liked what they saw out of Costantini last year as they decided to bring him back. The 21-year-old goaltender was one of six goaltenders to see time in the Americans net last season and led the team in wins. I would expect Constantini to have a much bigger role with the Americans next year and have a chance to be the team’s starter, especially seeing that two of the six goaltenders from last year were on NHL contracts.
