ECHL: Allen Americans Sign Liam Gorman

The Allen Americans have announced that they have signed 6’2″ forward Liam Gorman for the 2024-25 ECHL season.

Collegiate Career

Liam Gorman started his collegiate career in the 2019-20 season playing Division I hockey at Princeton University. Gorman spent four seasons at Princeton but only played in three as Princeton did not play in the 2020-21 season due to COVID. He played in 91 games at Princeton where he had 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points. He had 67 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -24.

Gorman had an incredible 2022-23 season at Princeton where he totaled 24 points (12 goals and 12 assists) in 32 games. He finished the season second in goals, third in assists, and second in points on Princeton’s team. He also finished second on the team for powerplay goals with four and he had two shorthanded goals which was sixth in the country and first in the ECAC. He finished his time at Princeton with seven multi-point games including two games where he had three points. Gorman was named to the NCAA All-Ivy League second team and captained Princeton’s team as well in the 2022-23 season.

Gorman then transferred to University of Massachusetts for the 2023-24 season playing in 28 games where he had one goal and three assists for four points. He had 17 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +2. Gorman did not have as big of a season points wise with UMass, but he did have 12 blocked shots and a faceoff win percentage of 57% (71-54). His lone goal of the season was also a pretty big goal as it came in their game against Denver on March 28 in the first round of the NCAA frozen four tournament. Gorman’s goal was the only goal for UMass in their 2-1 loss to Denver, who went on to win it all.

Gorman finished his collegiate career with 195 shots, averaging 1.64 shots per game. Gorman is a forward who has a lot of size and is not afraid to put his body in front of a shot to prevent an opposing team from getting a shot on net.

The 2024-25 season will be Gorman’s rookie season in the ECHL and professional hockey.
