The Allen Americans have announced that they have signed 5’10” defenseman Sam Sedley for the 2025-26 season.

Junior Career

Sam Sedley started his junior career in the GOJHL playing for the St. Marys Lincolns in the 2018-19 season. He played in four games with the Lincolns, where he registered one goal and one assist. Sedley then spent the rest of his junior career playing in the OHL. He spent five seasons playing with the Owen Sound Attack, serving as an alternate captain in one of the seasons. Sedley only played in four seasons as the 2020-21 OHL season was cancelled due to COVID. In 236 OHL games, Sedley registered 21 goals and 147 assists for 168 points with 116 penalty minutes and a -20. He also had one goal and seven assists with 16 penalty minutes and a -6 in 13 playoff games.

Professional Career

After completing his junior career, Sam Sedley decided to start his professional career. Sedley signed a contract with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, playing in two games in the 2024-25 season. He spent the rest of the season in the ECHL with the Reading Royals. In 62 games with the Royals, he registered seven goals and 30 assists for 37 points with 27 penalty minutes and a -2.

Sam Sedley is an elite right-shot offensive defenseman that we expect Les Lancaster type production from” noted Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. “Our defense is extremely skilled, and we anticipate being a high- flying unit out of our zone with a four-man attack.”

Sam Sedley is a smaller defenseman who is still able to help his team out in big ways. When needed, Sedley is able to produce on offense for his team, whether it be scoring a goal or setting up his teammates to score. On defense, Sedley is hard on the puck and is able to use his speed to take away chances for opposing teams.
