ECHL: Allen Americns Respond With Blowout Win Vs Idaho Steelheads; Trails Series 2-1.

The Allen Americans need something to go their way after losing the first two games in the series and that’s exactly what they did on Friday Night. Allen would make a change in net for game three as Chase Perry got the nod in favor of Kevin Mandolese, and it looked to be the wrong move as Colton Kehler scored 1:29 into the opening frame. The Americans would have a response and a big one at that as Colton Hargrove would find the back of the net on the PP at the 3:41 mark of the period. Liam Finlay would give the Americans a 2-1 lead at the 10:37 mark, then Hargrove would net his second goal of the period at 14:35 as Allen had a 3-1 lead after the opening frame.

Allen wasn’t done yet as Chad Butcher made it 4-1 less than five minutes into the middle frame. Ryan Dmowski would score for the Steelheads, but Allen’s Hank Crone scored with less than a minute remaining in the middle frame, Crone finally got going in the series as he had a four-point night to lead the Americans. Justin Young who slotted into the lineup due to the Spencer Asuchak suspension would cap off the seven-goal night for the Americans. Perry in his first Kelly Cup Playoff start would shine for the Americans, making 54 saves on the night for the win, which gives Allen’s Head Coach Chad Costello a tough decision on who to put in net on Saturday Night.
