“A signing a day keeps the doctor away” is one quote you could use to explain the Trois-Rivières Lions as they announced their fifth signing of the week, as they are bringing back forward Andrew Coxhead. The 25-year-old season had a busy rookie season playing with the Kansas City Mavericks, Orlando Solar Bears, and Trois-Rivières Lions. Coxhead was traded to the Lions on March 20th, in a trade that was just completed as the Lions sent Cory Thomas to Orlando at the Future Trade Consideration deadline. In 65 regular-season games, he would put up six goals and seven assists for 13 points. He added two goals and an assist in 13 games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs, including the game-winning goal in 2OT in Game 3 of the opening round vs Reading Royals. The Lions now have four forwards and a defenseman signed for the 2025-26 season.
Prior to going pro, the Bedford, Nova Scotia native spent time in the QMJHL and USports. Andrew Coxhead spent five seasons in the QMJHL, playing for three different teams. He put up 60 goals and 82 assists for 142 points in 276 games. He would add eight goals and seven assists for 15 points in 22 playoff games. Coxhead then spent three seasons at St.Mary’s University, where he put up 25 goals and 33 assists in 69 games. In 2023, he was named to the AUS Second All-Star Team after putting up 14 goals and 10 assists in 26 games. He also won a gold medal at the Universiade with Canada. He had two goals and four assists for six points in seven games during the Tournament.
