ECHL Announces Fine and Suspension l 02/05/25

ECHL Fines and Transactions

The ECHL Department of Player Safety announced earlier today that a fine and suspension have been handed down following Tuesday’s South Division clash between the Orlando Solar Bears and the South Carolina Stingrays.

Ryan Hofer of the South Carolina Stingrays has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount due to incidents that occurred at the end of the game. Specifically, he received a match penalty for spearing at 20:00 of the third period, which falls under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline. As a result, Hofer will sit out Saturday’s rematch against the Solar Bears.

In that game, the Orlando Solar Bears emerged victorious with a 4-3 win, thanks in part to a strong performance in the third period where both Spencer Kersten and Mark Auk netted crucial goals. This win brings Orlando’s record to 25-18-7-0, placing them fourth in the South Division.

On the other hand, the Stingrays now hold a record of 27-12-2-2, keeping them in second place within the division as they progress further into the season.

Currently, the South Division is led by the defending three-time Kelly Cup Champions, the Florida Everblades, who are having an impressive season with a record of 29-8-5-1, earning them 64 points through 43 games played. The big question on everyone’s mind is whether they can pull off the incredible feat of winning four championships in a row, especially after making history last season.

Saturday’s game between the Stingrays and the Solar Bears will have a puck drop at 6:05 PM at the North Charleston Coliseum.
