ECHL Fines and Transactions

The ECHL Department of Player’s Safety has announced two suspensions stemming from Sunday’s games. Both players are repeat offenders.

Ben Hawerchuk Suspended

South Carolina Stingrays forward Ben Hawerchuk has been suspended two games and fined an undisclosed amount for his actions in Sunday’s game vs Jacksonville Icemen. This is his second suspension of the season after the league gave him a five game suspension back in November. Hawerchuk would cross-check Jacksonville’s Chase Lang after Lang threw a big hit on Dean Loukus. The 26-year-old forward would be assessed a game misconduct for cross-checking. In 26 games this season, he has three goals and five assists for eight points, along with 83 penalty minutes. The St. Louis native will be eligible to return on Saturday Night vs Atlanta Gladiators.

Max Andreev Suspended

The ECHL Department of Player’s Safety has suspended Kansas City Mavericks center Max Andreev two games for his actions in Sunday’s game vs Tulsa Oilers. This is his second suspension this season after he was suspended for five games back in November. Andreev would cross-check Alec Butcher and then hit him again while he was down on the ice. He would be assessed a game misconduct for cross-checking. The Russian forward has 12 goals and 30 assists for 42 points, along with 77 PIMs in 43 games this season, and is leading the Mavericks in assists. Andreev was named to the All-Rookie team last year after putting up 19 goals and 54 assists for 73 points in 63 games. He is eligible to return on Saturday Night vs Allen Americans.
