The ECHL Department of Player’s Safety has suspended and fined South Carolina Stingrays forward Ryan Hofer and defenseman Blake Thompson for their actions in Sunday’s game vs Jacksonville Icemen.
Ryan Hofer Suspended
The ECHL Department of Player Safety has suspended Ryan Hofer for two games for his actions at the 7:50 mark of Sunday’s game. Hofer threw Jacksonville’s Noah Laaouan into the boards, and Laaouan was very slow to get up. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native would be given a five-minute major and a game misconduct on the play. He is eligible to return on Sunday when the Stingrays host the Icemen. In 44 games this season, Hofer has 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points and 98 PIMS. This is Hofer’s second suspension this season after he was suspended one game back in February.
Blake Thompson Suspended
Blake Thompson has been suspended one game as a result of his game misconduct for aggressor at the 17:40 mark of the first period in Sunday’s game. Thompson would go after Jacksonville Icemen forward Olivier Nadeau after being hit into the boards by the Jacksonville forward. The 32-year-old defenseman would then drop the gloves and go after Nadeau, who seemed to want no part of the altercation. Thompson is eligible to return on Saturday when the Stingrays face the Icemen in Jacksonville. In 61 games this season, the Listowel, Ontario native has two goals and 29 assists for 31 points and 50 PIMS, as well as playing in his 300th career ECHL game on Saturday Night.
