The ECHL Department of Player’s Safety has announced two suspensions stemming from Wednesday Night’s Games. Jacksonville Icemen defenseman Garret Cockerill has been suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount for his actions at the 16:33 mark of the first period in Wednesday’s game against the Florida Everblades. The 30-year-old defenseman delivered a high cross-check to the face of Jesse Lansdell, which caused Lansdell to draw blood as he headed straight to the locker room as Cockerill was given a major for cross-checking and a game misconduct. Cockerill will the Icemen’s final three games of the regular season this weekend. In 50 games this season, the Michigan Native put up five goals and 11 assists for 16 points and 75 minutes in penalties. In seven seasons in the ECHL, the six-foot blueliner has put up 30 goals and 110 assists for 140 points, along with 363 penalty minutes while playing for the Kalamazoo Wings, Reading Royals, Tulsa Oilers, and Jacksonville Icemen.
Cincinnati Cyclones Sahil Panwar has been suspended one game for his actions at the 9:26 mark of the third period in Wednesday’s game vs Kansas City Mavericks. The Ontario Native kicked Kansas City’s David Noel as he attempted to get up after delivering a legal check on the Cyclones forward. He will miss Saturday’s game vs Wheeling Nailers. Panwar in his rookie year with the Cyclones has put up 22 goals and 32 assists for 54 points in 64 games, he’s also played in three games with the Hartford Wolf Pack but has failed to find the scoresheet. This is Panwar’s second consecutive 20+ goal season as he had 31 goals and 38 assists for 69 points in 68 games in the OHL as he played 34 games for the Peterborough Petes and Hamilton Bulldogs.
