The ECHL Department of Player’s Saftey has suspended Adirondack’s Zach Walker one game and fined him an undisclosed amount for his actions at the 2:16 mark of the second period in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals vs Florida Everblades. Walker would deliver a slew foot to Florida’s Cam Darcy that went unpenalized and left the Massachusetts defenseman down on all fours as he attempted to crawl to the bench before the play would finally be blown dead. Darcy would not only be out for the rest of the game but would later be transferred by ambulance to the hospital for further evaluation, which caused a slight delay as the two teams waited for an ambulance to resume play.

This is the second time in the past two series in which he’s been suspended as he was suspended after Game 1 of the North Division Finals vs Norfolk Admirals for a hit on Mark Liwiski, for which he was suspended one game. He was also suspended for eight games during the regular season for abusing officials. In 13 games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs, Walker has put up one goal and two assists for three points, along with 19 minutes in penalties.
The 25-year-old winger will miss Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday Night. Expect Mac Welsher or Alex Young to find their way into the lineup with Walker out. Adirondack Thunder head coach Pete MacArthur also hinted post-game that there may be lineup changes coming tonight.
