Earlier today, the ECHL’s Department of Player Safety announced the fines and suspensions resulting from last night’s games:
Matt Anderson (Toledo Walleye)
Toledo’s Matt Anderson has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount for his actions during ECHL Game #385, where the Iowa Heartlanders played against the Toledo Walleye on December 27, 2024. He received the suspension and fine under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline due to a major penalty and game misconduct for kneeing at 5:26 of the second period. The Walleye later won the game 4-3 in a shootout. Anderson will miss tonight’s Central Division game against the Indy Fuel in Fishers, Indiana, which will begin at 7:00 PM EST.
Cole Cameron (Wheeling Nailers)
Wheeling’s Cole Cameron has also been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount following his actions during ECHL Game #377, in which the Wheeling Nailers faced the Cincinnati Cyclones on December 27, 2024. Cameron was suspended and fined under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline for a major penalty and game misconduct due to cross-checking at 13:07 of the third period. The Wheeling Nailers later won the game 3-2 after successfully killing off the Cameron five-minute major penalty in the closing minutes. Cameron will miss tonight’s game against the Iowa Heartlanders, which will start at 7:10 PM EST at Wes Banco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia.
C.J. Valerian (Reading Royals)
Reading’s C.J. Valerian has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount due to his actions in ECHL Game #382, which took place between Worcester and Reading on December 27, 2024. He received this penalty under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline, following an unpenalized elbowing infraction at 13:50 of the second period. The Royals later went on to win the game 2-1 against the Railers. As a result of the suspension, Valerian will miss tonight’s game against the Worcester Railers, scheduled for 6:05 PM EST in Worcester.
According to the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, any fines collected by the ECHL are directed to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund
