The ECHL Department of Player’s Safety has announced that Worcester Railers forward Kolby Johnson has been suspended for one additional game for his actions in Friday Night’s game vs Savannah Ghost Pirates. He would miss Saturday and Sunday’s game after the league suspended him indefinitely, pending his hearing. Johnson would be called for unsportsmanlike misconduct at the 3:10 mark of the third period and then appeared to have said something to the ref either on his way to the penalty box or in the penalty box, which would tack on a game misconduct for abuse of officials. This is his second suspension after being suspended for three games back in November.
Johnson began his season in the SPHL with the Pensacola Ice Flyers, where he put up one goal in three games, along with 30 penalty minutes. In 33 games this season with the Railers, he’s put up two goals and two assists for four points, along with 100 PIMS, including 49 in his last four games. He is tied for second in the ECHL with eight major penalties. The Railers will lose a player who isn’t afraid to play physically and drop the gloves.

Prior to going pro, the Saskatchewan native spent part of five seasons in the WHL with the Prince George Cougars and Prince George Raiders, where he put up one goal and five assists for six points in 83 games. Johnson also saw action in 41 games in the QMJHL with the Sherbrooke Phoenix, where he put up a goal and an assist. Once his junior days were over, he played four seasons in USports with York University and Trinity Western University, where he put up five goals and five assists for 10 points, along with 122 PIMs in 51 games.
