ECHL: Atlanta Gladiators Announce Return of Two Forwards

The Atlanta Gladiators have announced that two more forwards Carson Denomie and Mitch Walinski, have re-signed with the team for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Carson Denomie joined the Gladiators in March of 2024, the move being part of the trade that had sent then captain Jacob Graves to the Toledo Walleye. Denomie made an impact for the team rather quickly. In just a dozen games with Atlanta, he lit up the scoreboard with six points (3 goals, 3 assists), scoring all of his goals in a hat-trick in the team’s season finale against the Jacksonville Icemen.

Before becoming a Gladiator, Carson Denomie played part of the previous season with both the Toledo Walleye and the Iowa Heartlanders. During his time with the Walleye, he achieved five assists in 18 games. Prior to his time in Toledo, Denomie contributed to 52 games for the Heartlanders, scoring 20 points from five goals and 15 assists.

Throughout the 2021-2022 season, Denomie scored 13 goals and provided 24 assists in 63 games for the Tulsa Oilers. During the playoffs, he matched the team’s record by scoring four game-winning goals in four games and notably excelled as one of the top Oilers rookies with seven power-play assists.

Prior to his professional debut with Tulsa in October 2021, Carson Denomie participated in 222 games in the Western Hockey League. During this time, he scored 49 goals, assisted with 60, accumulating a total of 109 points. The 2019-20 season included a few notable milestones for Denomie, as he set personal records in goals (21), assists (29), and total points (50) while he was competing for Moose Jaw and Regina.

Mitch Walinski, originally from Lincoln, Rhode Island began his junior hockey career in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), playing for teams such as the Bismarck Bobcats, Minnesota Wilderness, and Corpus Christi IceRays. During his time in the NAHL, he demonstrated a strong scoring ability, recording a total of 53 goals and 32 assists over 173 games. Walinski had moved on to play collegiate hockey at American International College (AIC) in the NCAA, where he further honed his skills before he transitioned to professional hockey and signed with the Atlanta Gladiators.

Now looking ahead to his third professional season with the Gladiators, “Money” Mitch Walinski has shown he is a versatile forward, and is becoming known for his offensive contributions. With Atlanta last season he was among those most frequently notching the first goal of the game with three and was among those with a game winning goals having put two such goals in the net for the team. Over the course of his 49 games last season, he scored seven goals and provided four assists, accumulating a total of 11 points.

Carson Denomie and Mitch Walinski will be taking to the ice with the Gladiators in the 2024-25 season, adding to the roster that includes Josh Boyer, Brenden Datema, Dylan Carabia, Ryan Cranford, Eric Neiley, Michael Marchesan, Jackson Pierson, Tyler Drevitch, Blake Murray, Derek Topatigh, Andrew Jarvis, P.J. Fletcher and Drew DeRidder.

The Atlanta Gladiators are set to kickstart the 2024-25 season at Gas South Arena on October 19th against the Indy Fuel.
