ECHL: Atlanta Gladiators Sign Defenseman Christian Hausinger

The Atlanta Gladiators announced that the club has signed defenseman Christian Hausinger to a contract for the 2024-25 season.

Before embarking on his professional career, Hausinger played four seasons of collegiate hockey at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, finishing with 71 points (16 goals, 55 assists) in 96 games. Hausinger was appointed team captain for his senior season with the Falcons and concluded his college career as the leading points scorer for defensemen in the school’s history. His standout season occurred in 2019-20 when he recorded 36 points (10 goals, 26 assists) over 29 games. He earned accolades such as NCAA DIII First Team All-American, All-USCHO First Team, and WIAC All-Conference Team. Hausinger also earned the title of WIAC Player of the Year by scoring 36 points (10 goals, 26 assists).

Prior to joining the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Falcons, Hausinger dedicated three seasons to competing in both the NAHL and the USHL. His most impressive season occurred in 2014-15 with the Odessa Jackalopes, where he recorded 31 points (7 goals, 24 assists) across 59 games. His performance earned him accolades as a member of the NAHL All-Rookie Second Team and the NAHL All-South Division Rookie Team.

After college, Hausinger began his professional career in the 2021-22 season, playing for three ECHL teams including the Wichita Thunder, Florida Everblades, and the Norfolk Admirals. In a total of 58 games, he achieved 29 points (5 g, 24a). The following season (2022-23), he continued to impress, amassing 22 points (4g, 18a) in 53 games with the Fife Flyers (EIHL). The Fife Flyers set their sights on the Challenge Cup that season, with Hausinger contributing by scoring four goals and providing seven assists, totaling 11 points in as many games.

The 27-year-old defenseman is set to join the Gladiators after a remarkable and productive season in 2023-24 with the Hannover Indians of Oberliga. During his time with the Indians, he accumulated 39 points, which included eight goals and 31 assists, all achieved over the course of 43 games. His performance with the Indians not only highlights his offensive capabilities but demonstrates his ability to contribute to his team’s success on both sides of the puck, making him a valuable addition to the Gladiators.

Hausinger is set to join the Gladiators on the ice for the 2024-25 season, adding to the roster that now includes Josh Boyer, Brenden Datema, Dylan Carabia, Ryan Cranford, Eric Neiley, Michael Marchesan, Jackson Pierson, Tyler Drevitch, Blake Murray, Derek Topatigh, Andrew Jarvis, P.J. Fletcher, Carson Denomie, Mitch Walinski, Easton Armstrong, Zach Yoder, Cody Sylvester, and Drew DeRidder.

The 2024-25 season for the Atlanta Gladiators will begin on Saturday, October 19th at Gas South Arena, facing off against the Indy Fuel.
