On October 4th, 2024, the Atlanta Gladiators announced that they have signed Goaltender Josh Boyko to a contract for the 2024-2025 season.
The Gladiators acquired the Mississauga, Ontario native on January 26th, 2024 in a trade that was completed with the Worcester Railers. Boyko dressed in 13 games and had a record of 3-7-2 and ended the season with a 3.39 GAA and a 0.895 Save Percentage. This will be Boyko’s third professional season.
Boyko spent his entire collegiate career at Aurora University. He dressed in 105 games and ended his career with a 2.98 GAA and a 0.906 Save Percentage. Boyko became the first ice hockey player to become selected to the AHCA All-American and earned the West Second-Team goaltender in the 2019-2020 season. Boyko helped Aurora University have the best program overall record in the 2019-2020 season with a 12-9-6 record. He helped lead AU to a program-best 12-9-6 overall record and 8-6-6 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA). Boyko became the first Aurora Goaltender to earn NCHA All-Conference honors.
During Boyko’s first professional season, he bounced back and forth between the Southern Profesional Hockey League (SPHL) and the ECHL. He spent time with the Maine Mariners, Peoria Rivermen, Kalamazoo Wings, Reading Royals, Macon Mayhem, and the Idaho Steelheads in the 2022-2023 season. During the 2023-2024 season, Boyko saw time with the Worcester Railers, Atlanta Gladiators, and Macon Mayhem.
