Ice hockey players from Canada and the United States are preparing for an upcoming tournament in Australia set to take place in July. Both teams will consist of current professional hockey players, including those formerly with the NHL and will compete for the Australian International Hockey Cup. It was announced today that defensemen Zach Yoder and Dylan Carabia, representing the Atlanta Gladiators, have both been selected to join the USA team, the USA Eagles.
Zach Yoder, who served as the Alternate Captain during the 2023-24 season, tallied a total of 10 points. This consisted of three goals and seven assists achieved in 63 games. Looking back at his performance over the last three seasons, Yoder has gathered a combined total of six goals, 23 assists, amounting to 29 points in total. Before becoming a part of the Gladiators, he previously competed in the SPHL and contributed an assist while playing for the Huntsville Havoc in the 2020-2021 season.
Dylan Carabia contributed a goal and four assists for the Gladiators, totaling 5 points in the 2023-2024 season. He has been a member of the Atlanta team for the past two seasons, registering a combined tally of 3 goals, 11 assists, and 14 points. Before joining Atlanta, he competed in the SPHL and showcased his skills with the Pensacola Ice Flyers, recording an eight goals, 31 assists, and 39 points.
Joining them, among others, is Kevin Miller, who has played 620 games in the NHL for teams such as the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals, St. Louis Blues, San Jose Sharks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, and Ottawa Senators. He is also a one-time Olympian representing the USA.
The USA Eagles are preparing to compete against the Canada Maples in the tournament scheduled from July 4th to 16th, 2024, taking place in Sydney and Erina, Australia. Canada has clinched the Championship title for the past two years, with the USA’s most recent championship victory secured in 2017.
