The Greenville Swamp Rabbits announced on Friday that they had re-signed the 27-year-old forward from Falmouth, Maine, Ben Freeman, for the 2023-2024 season. This upcoming season will be Freemans third season with the Swamp Rabbits. Playing in 62 games during his first year with Greenville, Freeman was able to put up 32 points. In his second season with the team, Freeman matched the exact same point number again with 32 points playing an additional three games. While scoring a career-high in goals with 13.
While the regular season point totals aren’t as flashy as some other players, it seems the playoffs are where Freeman tends to shine. Over the last two years with Greenville, Freeman has played in 12 out 12 games and is averaging a point per game. Scoring four goals in last years playoffs against the Icemen. Leading the Swamp Rabbits in points and goals in the short-lived playoff run. Looking at the career of Freeman, he has consistently produced in the high-pressure situations when it comes to the playoffs. In a total of 20 playoff games between the ECHL, SPHL, and the USPHL Premier League, Freeman has 19 total points, with 10 of those being in the form of goals. Freeman is a nice player to retain for a Swamp Rabbit team looking to get past the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs this year. Freeman and the Swamp Rabbits will start the 2023-2024 campaign on Saturday, October 22, at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. When they host the Norfolk Admirals.
