The Adirondack Thunder have rounded out their coaching staff, naming Ben Holmstrom as the Associate Coach, following the announcement of Sylvain Coutier as the head coach earlier today. Like Coutier, Ben Holmstrom has ties to the Adirondack community as he spent the first five seasons of his playing career with the Adirondack Phantoms. In 256 games with the Phantoms, he had 49 goals and 73 assists for 122 points. Holmstrom, 28, spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach with the Orlando Solar Bears.
“I’m very excited to come back to the same spot my professional playing career started,” said Holmstrom. “My goal is to try and help these players and this team exceed their potential and put a winning team on the ice in front of these passionate fans! I look forward to feeling the energy the Thunder fans bring in October!”

Holmstrom spent the 2019-20 season in the ECHL with the Norfolk Admirals and Cincinnati Cyclones, where he put up nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points in 51 games. The Colorado Springs native spent the 2020-21 season in Norway with Lillehammer, where he put up six goals and 13 assists for 19 points in 23 games. He would return to North America, where he played his final season with the South Carolina Stingrays, scoring five goals and adding 14 assists for 19 points in 38 games. Holmstrom also had six assists in 25 games with the Rochester Americans in the AHL.
