The Bloomington Bison and South Carolina Stingrays would complete their second trade of the season after Bloomington acquired three players from South Carolina back in September. On Monday, the Stingrays would send forward Jack Adams to Bloomington in exchange for future considerations.
The 27-year-old forward is coming off a strong rookie season where he put up 27 goals and 35 assists for 62 points in 71 games with the Stingrays. He finished second on the team in goals and fourth in points. The Boxford, Massachusetts native would also win the ECHL Community Service Award in his rookie season. Prior to going pro, the former sixth-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings in 2017 would play five seasons at the NCAA level with Union College, Providence College, and the University of Notre Dame, as he would put up 27 goals and 37 assists for 64 points in 142 games.
This is a huge signing for the Bison as they get a young superstar who could easily become the face of their franchise moving forward. One thing that will help Adams is that he will have a lot of familiar faces around him, such as defenseman Bryce Mongomery and forwards Jonny Evans and Jackson Leppard, who all spent time last year with the Stingrays. Gavin Gould, who played 20 games with the Stingrays during the 2022-23 season, would also sign with the Bison, so expect the Stingray core to play a big part for the Bison during the 2024-25 season.
