The Bloomington Bison have announced that they’ve signed goaltender Jake Barczewski for the 2025-26 season. Barczewski, 26, is coming off his rookie season, where he went 16-15-3 with a 3.49 GAA and .902 SV% in 40 games with the Utah Grizzlies despite being on an AHL Deal with the Colorado Eagles. He would make one appearance with the Eagles at the end of the 2023-24 season. The signing of Barczewski gives the Bison some stability in net after they went through seven different goaltenders last season. He is the eighth player signed to a contract with Bloomington for the 2025-26 season.
Prior to going pro, the O’Fallon, Missouri, native spent three years at the junior level. He spent his first season in the NAHL with the Janesville Jets. In 35 games with the Jets, he put up a 27-6-1 record with a 1.94 GAA, .929SV%, and two shutouts. He would spend the next two seasons in the USHL with the Tri-City Storm. In 59 games with the Storm, he went 30-23-5 with a 2.65 GAA, .904SV%, and two shutouts. He went 0-2 in two playoff games.
Jake Barczewski would then take the NCAA Route. He spent his first four seasons at Canisius College, where he went 44-42-8 with a 2.60 GAA, .917SV%, and six shutouts. During his time with the Golden Griffins, he was named Goaltender of the Year in 2021 and was named to the AHA First All-Star Team in 2021 and 2022. The Golden Griffins would win the AHA Championship in 2023. Barczewski would spend his final year of eligibility at the University of Michigan, where he went 20-14-3 with a 2.84 GAA, .907SV%, and two shutouts.
