ECHL: Bloomington Bison Sign Cullen Ferguson

The Bloomington Bison have announced that they’ve signed defenseman Cullen Ferguson for the 2025-26 season. Ferguson, 24, joins the Bison after making his ECHL debut at the end of the last season, where he put up a goal and an assist in seven games with the Fort Wayne Komets. He becomes the third defenseman to sign with Bloomington for the 2025-26 season. Ferguson will join Riku Ishida and Seang Jae Lee, who are both coming from overseas.

Ferguson played three years of junior hockey, spending a year in the GOJHL, BCHL, and USHL. In his first year in juniors, he put up four goals and 15 assists for 19 points in 41 games in the GOJHL with the Hamilton Kilty B’s. He would add four assists in 10 GOJHL playoff games. The following season, he played in the BCHL with the Cowichan Valley Capitals, putting up a goal and 12 assists for 13 points in 56 games. Ferguson would have an assist in five USHL playoff games. After spending his first two junior seasons in Canada, he would head to the NAHL to join the Aberdeen Wings. In 36 games with the Wings, he put up six goals and 15 assists for 21 points in 36 games. Ferguson finished second on the team with 87 PIMS. He would add five goals and 11 playoff games.

The Binbrook, Ontario, native would then take the NCAA, spending four years at Union College, where he put up nine goals and 42 assists for 51 points in 144 games. During the 2023-24 season, he led Union with 60 PIMs in 37 games. In his final season at Union, he would serve as the team captain and would be tied for the team lead in blocked shots (47).
