
The Wheeling Nailers have announced that they’ve signed defenseman Bogdans Hodass for the 2025-26 season. Hodass, 22, is coming off his rookie season, where he put up three goals and six assists for nine points in 40 games with the Iowa Heartlanders. He would pick up a goal and an assist in his first game in the ECHL. The Latvian Blueliner also played in four games on the international stage last season, where he had one assist. The 6’3, 220lb defenseman will look to bring some offense to the Nailers Blueline. Hodass becomes the second defenseman to join the Nailers for the 2025-26 season, joining rookie Aidan Sutter.
Prior to going pro, Hodass spent three seasons in the WHL with the Medicine Hat Tigers, where he put 25 goals and 62 assists for 87 points in 178 games. He also had one assist in nine career WHL Playoff games. During the 2022-23 season, he would be tied for first among Tigers defenseman with 11 goals and finished second in that same category the following season.
Hodass has also seen a handful of games on the International stage throughout his career. He had one assist in two games during the 2021 U18 World Junior Championships. Hodass spent the next two seasons as a member of the Latvian National Team during the 2022 and 2023 IIHF World Junior Championships, where he put up three goals and three assists for six points in 11 games. He would win a Silver Medal with Latvia during the U20 World Junior Championships (D1A), where he had three assists in five games.
