ECHL: Brandon Fortunato Heads Overseas

Defenseman Brandon Fortunato is heading overseas to Italy to join Cortina in the Alps Hockey League. Fortunato,29, last played during the 2023-24 season with the Jacksonville Icemen. He put up two goals and 17 assists for 19 points in 41 games.

The Albertson, NY native spent the first five years of his career in North America. Fortunato has spent the majority of his career in the ECHL, where he has spent time with the Florida Everblades and Jacksonville Icemen. He’s put up nine goals and 79 assists for 88 points in 177 career games. Fortunato has a goal and 15 assists for 16 points in 27 career Kelly Cup Playoff Games.

Fortunato has also spent time in the AHL with the Cleveland Monsters, Belleville Senators, Charlotte Checkers, and Hartford Wolf Pack. He has two assists in 27 career AHL games. Both of his assists came as a member of the Checkers.

College Career

Prior to going pro, Fortunato spent four years at the NCAA level. He spent his first two years at Boston University, where he put up six goals and 34 assists for 40 points in 70 games. The Terriers won the Hockey East Championship in 2015.

Fortunato would spend his last two years of eligibility at Quinnipiac University. In 63 games with the Bobcats, he would put up 10 goals and 23 assists for 33 points. During his final year at Quinnipiac, he led all Bobcat defensemen in assists (23) and finished second on the team in that category.
