There is big news this afternoon from the den of the Lions. Indeed, the president of the Trois-Rivières Lions, Mark Weightman, has decided to leave the Lions in order to return to the position of president and chief of operations with the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League.
The one who had helped the establishment of the Lions in Trois-Rivières and who was in his second season as president of the Lions, therefore, adds one more tile on the head of the organization.
Remember that at the start of the season, the head coach of the Lions, Éric Bélanger left the organization as the team had a bad start to the season. Bélanger’s departure from the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the QMJHL (Junior Hockey) raised many questions among fans.
With Weightman’s departure added to the mix, that’s nothing to assuage Lions supporters’ worries about the team’s future in the city.
On the other hand, it’s an awesome grab for the Alouettes. The principal concerned spoke to the media via press release and had this to say:
“I will work on this enthusiastically with all the colleagues who are already at work, whether they are in our offices or dedicated to football operations under the guidance of our general manager, Danny Maciocia,” Weightman said.
“There’s a lot of work to do before the regular season kicks off, like the draft and training camp, but we all look forward to introducing you to your 2023 Alouettes.”
