
The Tahoe Knight Monsters have announced that they’ve re-signed defenseman Brennan Kapcheck for the 2025-26 season. In 64 games last season, Kapcheck put up four goals and 29 assists for 33 points. His 33 points were a career high. He would add eight assists in eight games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. The 28-year-old defenseman becomes the fourth defenseman and sixth signing for the Knight Monsters heading into the 2025-26 season. This is a huge signing for the Knight Monsters on the blueline .
Prior to the 2024-25 season, Kapcheck had spent his entire North American career in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization. In 179 games with the now-defunct Newfoundland Growlers, Kapcheck had seven goals and 52 assists for 59 points in 119 games. He would have a goal and 13 assists for 14 points in 31 Kelly Cup Playoff games with the Growlers. At the AHL level with the Toronto Marlies, Kapcheck had two assists in eight games. The Mount Prospect, Illinois, native also spent 10 games overseas in Slovakia, where he had an assist in 10 games with HKM Zvolen.
Prior to going pro, Brennan Kapcheck would spend four years at the NCAA level with American International College. In 124 games with the Yellow Jackets, Kapcheck would put up 14 goals and 80 assists for 94 points. Kapcheck walked away with awards in each of his four years at AIC, which included being named Rookie of the Year in 2018 as well as being named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. He would be nominated for the Walter Brown Award in 2019. The Yellow Jackets won two AHA Regular-Season championships during Kapcheck’s time there.
