The Greenville Swamp Rabbits have officially re-signed veteran forward Brent Pedersen for the 2025–26 ECHL season, marking his second campaign with the club.

The 30-year-old returns as a key piece of Greenville’s veteran core after posting 30 points (14g, 16a) in 56 games last season while wearing an “A” as alternate captain (Swamp Rabbits, 2025).

Standing at 6’3″ and weighing 214 pounds, Pedersen has carved out a reputation as a physical, net-front presence who can contribute offensively and provide leadership in the locker room. With over 280 regular season ECHL games to his name and playoff experience across multiple leagues, he meets the league’s veteran threshold, becoming the first vet announced to Greenville’s 2025–26 roster.

Strong Recent Production Across the South

Pedersen’s recent seasons have marked one of the most productive stretches of his career. Between his time in Savannah and Greenville, he has totaled 120 points (63g, 57a) in 178 ECHL games since 2022. He also made brief AHL appearances with the Henderson Silver Knights (2023–24) and Colorado Eagles (2022–23) during that span.

Before arriving in Greenville via a three-team trade in August 2024, Pedersen spent two seasons with the Savannah Ghost Pirates, where he recorded 47 points (27g, 20a) in 2022–23 and 43 points (22g, 21a) in 2023–24. Earlier in his ECHL career, he also skated for the Toledo Walleye and Orlando Solar Bears, and logged a total of 14 AHL games with the Manitoba, Colorado Eagles, and Henderson Silver Knights.

A Leader On and Off the Ice

“I really enjoyed my time in Greenville last season: the fans, the city, environment, and a great hockey organization,” Pedersen shared. “But most importantly for me and my fiancée, Mary-Claire, this is home. I’m excited to come back to play another season with the Swamp Rabbits” (Swamp Rabbits, 2025).

Known for his ability to play in all situations and provide secondary scoring, Pedersen looks forward to continuing to bring his physical style, hockey IQ, and leadership to a growing Swamp Rabbits roster.

Head Coach and GM Chad Costello praised the re-signing: “Pedey brings a level of poise and veteran leadership both on and off the ice. His work ethic, dedication, and drive have him set up to have a huge season for us. I think it could be one of his most successful yet in his career” (Swamp Rabbits, 2025).

A Career Built Through Hard Work

Originally from Arthur, Ontario, Pedersen was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the fifth round (#126 overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft. Before turning pro, he played four OHL seasons with the Kitchener Rangers and Oshawa Generals, helping the latter capture both the OHL Championship and the Memorial Cup in 2015. He also spent three years at Laurentian University, where he tallied 59 points in 76 USports games.

Since making his professional debut in 2018–19, Pedersen has built a steady and physical ECHL career, totaling 287 games with 83 goals, 89 assists, and 172 points.

Looking Ahead

With Brent Pedersen returning, Greenville solidifies its leadership group as it continues shaping a roster built to compete.

The Swamp Rabbits will open their 2025–26 season on Friday, October 17, when they host the Utah Grizzlies at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
