Brett Brochu (#36), Goaltender for the Fort Wayne Komets, Named ECHL Goaltender of the Week

Brett Brochu, goaltender for the Fort Wayne Komets, has been recognized as the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the period of December 9-15. The 22-year-old displayed his outstanding abilities by achieving a perfect 2-0-0 record, accompanied by an impressive 1.50 goals-against average and a remarkable .951 save percentage over two games last week.

Brochu’s exceptional performance began with a 27-save effort in a closely contested 2-1 win against the Bloomington Bison on Friday. He followed that with a dominant showing, making 31 saves in an 8-2 victory over the Allen Americans on Saturday. These consecutive victories highlight his vital contribution to the Komets’ recent achievements.

Originally from Belle River, Ontario, Brochu’s path to professional hockey has been characterized by hard work and determination. In his 33 games with the Komets, he has recorded a 15-14-2 record, including one shutout, a 2.58 goals-against average, and a .920 save percentage. He has also gained valuable experience in the AHL, playing for both the Manitoba Moose and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Brochu signed with the Bakersfield Condors in the AHL for this season. He has performed impressively so far, boasting an 8-3-1 record over 13 games, along with a commendable 2.45 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage. His dependability and consistency in goal have been crucial for the Komets this season.

Before going pro, Brochu made his mark in the Ontario Hockey League with the London Knights. Across 132 career games, he achieved an impressive 89-34-4 record, including six shutouts, a 2.67 goals-against average, and a .910 save percentage. His time in the OHL laid a solid groundwork for his professional career.
