The ECHL has announced that Rapid City Rush forward Brett Davis has been named the ECHL Player of the Week.
The Oakbank, Manitoba native started his junior career in the 2014-15 season with the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the WHL. He spent six seasons in the WHL, splitting his time between the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Kootenay Ice, and Red Deer Rebels. Davis played in 309 WHL games, where he had 93 goals and 107 assists for 200 points. He had 118 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -101. Davis played in the postseason for two of his seasons in the WHL, one with the Lethbridge Hurricanes and one with the Red Deer Rebels, playing in nine games where he had two assists. He had six penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -9. Davis was an assistant captain for the Kootenay Ice in the 2018-19 season and for the Red Deer Rebels in the 2019-20 season.
After completing his junior career, Davis spent the 2020-21 season in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose before going to the University of Manitoba in the 2021-22 season. He spent two seasons at the University of Manitoba playing in 36 games, where he had 20 goals and 26 assists for 46 points with 51 penalty minutes. In the 2022-23 season, Davis was named to the USports West Second All-Star Team.
After playing in USports, Davis signed with the Florida Everblades in the ECHL. He has played in the ECHL with the Everblades and the Rapid City Rush. With Rapid City in the 2023-24 season, Davis played in 17 games where he had three goals and nine assists for 12 points. He had ten penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -5.
Davis has been named the ECHL Player of the Week after a standout series against the Idaho Steelheads this past week. In three games, Davis had four goals and two assists on ten shots. Davis had a +4 in the series and two penalty minutes.
This season, Davis has played in 11 games with the Rush where he has five goals and four assists for nine points with two penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -4.
