ECHL: Busy Start to July for the Reading Royals

The Reading Royals have seen a lot of action heading into July, starting with the ECHL Summer Meetings, where the Royals’ won “Most Creative Revenue Generation of the Year” for their Winter Wonderland promotion this past season.

Along with bringing awards back to Reading, the Royals have re-signed fan favorite and local native Shane Sellar, who will be joining the 2023-24 roster. Sellar played in 70 games for the Royals last season, scoring a total of 18 goals and 21 assists. During the playoff run, he appeared in 11 games and scored one goal and two assists. Sellar is admired for his skills not just on the ice but his fun personality he brings to fans off the ice as well. Sellar is adored by Royals’ fans, and the news of his return has fans impatiently waiting for Opening Night.

In other news for the Royals, forwards Jacob Gaucher and Zayde Wisdom, as well as defenseman Mason Millman attended the Flyer’s Development Camp that took place from July 2nd to July 6th. Gaucher and Wisdom were both strong forwards for the Royals last season and helped in the playoff push during the post-season. As for Millman, Royals’ fans have come to admire his defensive skills on the ice as his time up in the AHL has given him the development time to improve as he moves through his career.

The last update for the Royals this week comes from an announcement of the 18th Annual Slapshot Charities Golf Tournament that will be held on Monday, October 16th. The tournament will be held at the Heidelberg Country Club starting at 8:30 a.m., and proceeds will go to Slapshot Charities. Those wishing to sign up may do so on the Royals’ Facebook page.
