The ECHL Department of Player’s Safety has suspended Indy Fuel forward Cam Hausinger two games and fined him an undisclosed amount for his actions in Sunday’s game vs Wheeling Nailers. Hausinger would deliver a knee-on-knee hit on Nailer forward Matty De St. Phalle at the 2:26 mark of the second period; Hausinger would be assessed a minor penalty for kneeing on the play; it was also Haunsinger’s 200th ECHL game. In 57 games this season with the Fuel, the Anchorage, Alaska native has 17 goals and 13 assists for 30 points and 116 PIMS. He leads Indy in PIMS and is one of two who played with at least 100 PIMS this season, joining Chris Cameron, who has 101. Hausinger has also played in three games with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL and has yet to find the scoresheet in the three-letter league. He is eligible to return on March 29th vs Adirondack Thunder.
Hausinger, 26, is in his fourth year in the ECHL and has put up 50 goals and 60 assists for 110 points, along with 346 PIMs in 200 games with the Wheeling Nailers, Florida Everblades, and Indy Fuel. He’s played 13 games at the AHL level with the Milwaukee Admirals and Iowa Wild, where he has one goal. Prior to going pro, he spent five years in the WHL with the Saskatoon Blades, Red Deer Rebels, and Kootenay Ice, putting up 68 goals and 93 assists for 161 points in 317 games in the Western Hockey Leagues.
