
The ECHL has named Florida Everblades Goaltender Cam Johnson as the 2025 Nick Vitucci Award recipient as the ECHL Goaltender of the Year. In 47 games this season, the 30-year-old goaltender put up career numbers, going 37-6-4 with a 1.92 GAA, .921 SV%, and five shutouts. He led the league in wins, GAA, and minutes played (2,848). This is the second straight season he’s led the league in GAA. This is the first time that Johnson has won Goaltender of the Year. Luke Cavallin, Garin Bjorklund, Taylor Gauthier, and Jordan Papirny were all named finalists for the award.
Johnson, 30, just finished his sixth season in the ECHL, all of which have been with the Everblades. In 204 games, he’s put up an impressive 123-55-16 record with a 2.31 GAA, .917 SV%, and 17 shutouts. He’s won three Kelly Cup Championships with the Everblades and has a 47-16 record with a 1.97 GAA, .928 SV%, and 11 shutouts in 63 career Kelly Cup Playoff Games. Johnson would win back-to-back Kelly Cup Playoff MVP Awards in 2022 and 2023. The Troy, Michigan, Native has seen 53 games at the AHL level. He’s gone 18-25-9 with a 3.59 GAA, .876 SV%, and one shutout.
Prior to going pro, Johnson spent four years at the NCAA level with the University of North Dakota. In 102 games with the Fighting Hawks, he went 56-26-12 with a 2.10 GAA, .914 SV%, and 12 shutouts. The Fighting Hawks won back-to-back NCHC Championships in 2015 and 2016.
