Florida Everblades netminder Cam Johnson has been named the ECHL Goaltender of the Month for the second time this season. Johnson is definitely a fan favorite in Estero, and it’s clear to see why. The 30-year-old posted a near-superhuman .940 save percentage in January. In his eight appearances last month, the veteran netminder went 6-1-1, securing two shutouts for the Everblades with a 1.59 goals-against average. Both of Johnson’s shutouts in January came on the road against Idaho and Savannah.
The Troy, Michigan native is currently under contract with the Springfield Thunderbirds (AHL). Johnson has made 28 appearances so far this season, with the Everblades winning 22 of those games, including five shutouts, all while maintaining a monstrous .930 save percentage. Johnson is a seasoned ECHL netminder, having won two Kelly Cups and played a total of 185 ECHL games, winning 108 of those with 17 shutouts and posting a .918 save percentage.
The former North Dakota goaltender has also appeared in 53 AHL games, suiting up for the Charlotte Checkers, Cleveland Monsters, and the Binghamton Devils. During his time in the AHL, Johnson went 18-25-8 and also posted a shutout. The veteran goaltender has been a regular with the Florida Everblades since the 2019-2020 season. The Everblades and their fans will certainly hope to see Johnson continue his dominance in net, as it has clearly been working out well for them.
