ECHL: Cam Johnson Named Goaltender of the Week

Congratulations to Cameron Johnson of the Florida Everblades for being named the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for November 13-19. This marks the third time he has received this weekly honor, reflecting his exceptional performance between the pipes.

The 29-year-old native of Troy, Michigan, showcased his skill and composure in three games last week, going undefeated with a perfect 3-0-0 record. Johnson boasted an impressive 1.33 goals-against average and an outstanding save percentage of 0.954.

In a game against the Orlando Solar Bears, Johnson made 35 saves, helping lead the Everblades to a convincing 4-1 victory. He followed up with equally stellar performances against the Atlanta Gladiators, stopping 25 shots in a 6-2 win on Friday and 27 shots in a 3-1 triumph on Saturday.

So far this season, Johnson has appeared in nine games, accumulating a 5-4-0 record with a 3.04 goals-against average and a solid save percentage of 0.907. It’s worth noting that Johnson is currently under contract with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

Throughout his ECHL career, Johnson has made 117 appearances split between both the Adirondack Thunder and the Florida Everblades. He boasts an impressive record of 64-38-11, including eight shutouts, with a 2.58 goals-against average and a save percentage of 0.914. His contributions have been instrumental in leading the Everblades to consecutive Kelly Cup titles, where he was awarded the June M. Kelly Playoffs Most Valuable Player in each championship-winning season.

Johnson has also gained valuable experience in the American Hockey League, with 53 games played for the Charlotte Checkers, Cleveland Monsters, and Binghamton Devils. During that time, he compiled a record of 18-25-8, including one shutout.

Before turning professional, Johnson showcased his talent at the collegiate level, where he represented the University of North Dakota. In 102 games, he accumulated an impressive 56-26-12 record, including 12 shutouts. Johnson maintained a stellar 2.10 goals-against average and posted a save percentage of 0.914 throughout his college career.
