The Rapid City Rush have announced that they have signed 5’10” forward Cameron Buhl for the 2025-26 season.
Junior and Collegiate Career
Cameron Buhl, a South St. Paul, Minnesota native, began his junior hockey career in the NAHL with the Minnesota Magicians. Over 162 games, he tallied 43 goals and 72 assists for 115 points, adding 110 penalty minutes and a +8 rating. He also appeared in 12 playoff games, where he contributed four goals and four assists, with six penalty minutes and a -5. During the 2018–19 season, Buhl served as an alternate captain and earned a spot on the NAHL Midwest All-Star Team.
Following his time in the NAHL, Buhl advanced to the NCAA Division I level, joining St. Lawrence University, where he played for five seasons. In 139 games with the Saints, he posted 23 goals and 29 assists for 52 points, along with 67 penalty minutes and a -28 rating. His most notable season came in 2020–21, when he was named to the ECAC First All-Star Team and helped the program capture the ECAC Championship.
Professional Career
After completing his collegiate career, Buhl signed in the ECHL to complete his 2024-25 season. He initially signed with the Utah Grizzlies, but Buhl finished his season with the Savannah Ghost Pirates. In 49 ECHL games, Buhl has four goals and four assists with 15 penalty minutes and a -18.
Buhl is a smaller forward who isn’t afraid to crash the net, battle for space, or capitalize on second-chance opportunities. After completing his rookie season, he continues to adjust to the pace and demands of professional hockey. With time and development, he has the potential to find more offensive success in Rapid City during the 2025–26 season. His previous experience in the Mountain Division with the Utah Grizzlies gave him a taste of the physical, hard-nosed style that defines the region’s gameplay. That familiarity could serve him well as he carves out a larger role in Rapid City’s lineup.
