The Jacksonville Icemen have officially re-signed defenseman Cameron Supryka for the 2025–26 ECHL season, bringing back a steady presence who made an impression during his brief but effective stretch with the team last spring.
A Late-Season Boost Turns Into a Full-Time Role
Supryka, 24, joined Jacksonville late in the 2024–25 season after starting the year with the Fort Wayne Komets. In 16 regular-season games with the Icemen, the Belleville, Ontario native recorded seven assists and a +5 rating, showcasing calm puck movement and sound positioning in his own zone. He added four playoff appearances during the team’s postseason run.
Though he didn’t score a goal during his stint in Jacksonville, Supryka made an immediate impact with his transition play and ability to read the ice, particularly in late-game situations. His return gives the Icemen a reliable left-shot option with both size and experience.
Reliable Across Multiple Stops
Supryka has quietly built a strong ECHL resume since turning pro. Between Fort Wayne, Tulsa, and Jacksonville, he has appeared in 166 regular season games, tallying 18 goals and 54 assists for 72 points. His most productive season came in 2022–23 with the Tulsa Oilers, where he posted 24 points (5G, 19A) in 59 games despite a challenging -19 rating that reflected team struggles more than individual performance.
In 2023–24, Supryka earned a brief call-up to the AHL with the Belleville Senators, skating in seven games. Though he didn’t record a point during that stint, it marked another step forward in his development and versatility.
What Supryka Brings to Jacksonville
Standing 6’3” and weighing 192 pounds, Supryka plays a rangy, smart defensive game. He’s not a pure shutdown defenseman, but he’s dependable on breakouts, smooth in transition, and capable of quarterbacking possession when paired with a more physical partner.
Jacksonville leaned heavily on its top four down the stretch last season, and Supryka’s return provides flexibility and balance to that group. His ability to slot into multiple roles—whether on the second pairing or special teams—makes him a valuable piece as the team builds toward another playoff push in the South Division.
Looking Ahead
With Supryka returning to the fold, Jacksonville continues to shape a defensive core built on mobility and smart puck decisions. The Icemen are expected to announce additional roster updates in the coming weeks as the 2025–26 season approaches.
