The Kansas City Mavericks have announced that they have re-signed 5’10” forward Chase Brand for the 2025-26 season.
Junior and Collegiate Career
Chase Brand started his junior career in the NAHL, where he spent parts of two seasons playing with the Brookings Blizzard. In 86 games with the Blizzard, he had 16 goals and 26 assists for 42 points, 47 penalty minutes, and a +8. He also had one goal in five playoff games.
The Park Rapids, Minnesota native then moved to the USHL, spending parts of three seasons with the Sioux Falls Stampede, Omaha Lancers, and Madison Capitols. Through 76 USHL games, Brand registered 18 goals and 36 assists for 54 points, 20 penalty minutes, and a -15.
Brand then returned to Minnesota for his collegiate career, spending four seasons at St. Cloud State University. In his four seasons with the Huskies, he played in 117 games where he had 14 goals and 20 assists for 34 points with 63 penalty minutes and a +4. While at St. Cloud, Brand and the Huskies won the NCHC Frozen Faceoff in the 2022-23 season. Brand then entered the transfer portal for his fifth year, landing a spot at Augustana University. In 30 games with the Vikings, he had five goals and seven assists for 12 points with 15 penalty minutes and a -12.
Professional Career
After completing his collegiate career, Brand signed in the ECHL with the Reading Royals to finish his 2023-24 season. He then started the 2024-25 season with the Adirondack Thunder before eventually landing a spot with the Kansas City Mavericks. Brand has played in 61 ECHL games where he has four goals and five assists with 29 penalty minutes and a -4.
Brand is a smaller forward, but he has what it takes to be lethal on offense. His speed and ability to get up and down the ice help force turnovers and create odd-man rushes for his team. While Brand does not always end up on the scoresheet, his work ethic is next to none, and it is only a matter of time before his offensive skills translate to his game in the ECHL.
