The Cincinnati Cyclones announced the first signing for the 2025-26 season as they’ve signed center Justin Gill. The 22-year-old forward was on an AHL contract last season with Bridgeport. He split the season between the Bridgeport Islanders and Worcester Railers after the New York Islanders drafted him in the fifth round of the 2023 NHL Draft. In 35 games with Bridgeport, he had one goal and six assists for seven points. He put up better numbers in the ECHL, putting up eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points in 23 games. Gill should be a massive piece for the Cyclones heading into next season, as they’ll need to replace the losses of Mathieu Gosselin and Kyle Bollers. I would expect him to start next season in the top six for the Cyclones. This is certainly a good first step as the Cyclones begin to build their 2025-26 roster.

“Having Justin on board early in the offseason is a great start to our summer and should definitely get the fans excited,” said Cyclones Head Coach Riley Weselowski on the team’s first signee. “He instantly provides our lineup as one of the top-scoring threats in the ECHL and at just 22 years old, he is still very much an NHL prospect. A 200-foot player with a high compete level and a will to win, Justin is one of those players who shows up when games matter the most.”

The Quebec native would spend his junior days in the QMJHL. During his five years in the QMJHL, he would play with the Charlottetown Islanders, Sherbrooke Phoenix, and Baie-Comeau Drakkar. Gill would put up 115 goals and 155 assists for 270 points in 285 games. In each of his last two years in the Q, he would put up at least 40+ goals. Gill led the Drakkar in assists (58) and points (98) in his final season in the QMJHL. He would add 17 goals and 27 assists for 44 points in 45 QMJHL Playoff games. In his final season in the Q, Gill posted career numbers, tallying 40 goals and 58 assists for 98 points in 65 games. He would be named to the QMJHL First All-Star Team and would lead the league in +/- (+57).
