The Cincinnati Cyclones have made their first signing of the offseason by bringing back forward Lincoln Griffin for the 2024-2025 season. Last season, Griffin contributed 31 points (13 goals, 18 assists) in 40 games after spending the first part of the season in Slovakia. This upcoming season marks his 4th year with the Cyclones since he was acquired from the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in the 2021-2022 season. With a total of 120 career points in the ECHL, 114 of which were earned with the Cyclones, Griffin ranks as one of the top 5 shorthanded goal scorers in the team’s history. Looking ahead, he aims to achieve greater consistency while playing on the top line, penalty kill, and power-play in the upcoming season following a hectic year. Griffin shares his thoughts on his return below.

Cincinnati is a second home. It was a pretty easy decision to come back”, said Griffin. “I’m hoping we can win a championship for Cincy. I think that would be an incredible thing for the city, for the guys and the fans. That motivated me to come back and give it another shot.”

Griffin’s thoughts on returning to Cincinnati

Griffin is thrilled to be returning to play in front of the Cincinnati faithful. He appreciates the energy they bring to the games, especially with a couple of crowds surpassing 14,000 people last season. With key players recovering from injuries that plagued the team last season, there is optimism for a successful Kelly Cup Playoff run in the upcoming season. The new affiliation with the Toronto Maple Leafs means that many promising prospects are likely to join the team, and Griffin is eager to take on a leadership role for these players in the locker room this upcoming season.

Head Coach of the Cincinnati Cyclones, Jason Payne, also shared his thoughts on the signing below:

Head coach Jason Payne says Griffin “does what’s asked of him and finds success in all areas. Doesn’t matter if it’s five-on-five, power play, penalty kill; we know we can rely on Lincoln to be effective and produce.”
