ECHL: Cody Sylvester to Rejoin the Atlanta Gladiators

The Atlanta Gladiators announced today that the club has signed forward Cody Sylvester to an ECHL contract for the 2024-25 season.

Sylvester made the decision in February to transition to playing for EC Bad Nauheim in Germany. During his recent tenure with Bad Nauheim, Sylvester showcased his skills by amassing a total of four points, comprising of three goals and one assist, achieved over the course of seven games. His total professional journey in Germany spans over six seasons, during which he has notably represented both the Iserlohn Roosters in the DEL and Bad Nauheim EC in the DEL 2 league. Across a combined total of 191 games played for these clubs, Sylvester has demonstrated his offensive prowess by accumulating an impressive 166 points, consisting of 67 goals and 99 assists.

Before leaving Atlanta, Sylvester had an impressive tenure with the Gladiators having played 35 games for the Gladiators, scoring 33 points (13 goals, 20 assists). He also served as an Alternate Captain. In all Sylvester would participate in 167 games and adding 175 points (77 goals, 98 assists) during the last three seasons with Atlanta. He had held the position of the Gladiators’ highest scorer in the preceding two seasons and shared the title of top point producer before leaving for Germany. During the 2022-23 season, Sylvester achieved a significant milestone by scoring 38 goals in a single season for the Atlanta Gladiators, surpassing previous records. This also saw him reaching career highs in assists (48) and total points (86) for the Gladiators.

Before transitioning to professional hockey, Sylvester spent five seasons in the WHL (Western Hockey League) playing for the Calgary Hitmen. During this time, he tallied 229 points (97 goals, 132 assists) in 315 games. Alongside his impressive stats in Calgary, Sylvester also took on the role of team captain for the 2012-13 season.

Cody Sylvester will be hitting the ice with the Gladiators in the 2024-25 season, adding to the roster that now includes Josh Boyer, Brenden Datema, Dylan Carabia, Ryan Cranford, Eric Neiley, Michael Marchesan, Jackson Pierson, Tyler Drevitch, Blake Murray, Derek Topatigh, Andrew Jarvis, P.J. Fletcher, Carson Denomie, Mitch Walinski, Easton Armstrong, Zach Yoder and Drew DeRidder. The 2024-25 season for the Atlanta Gladiators will begin on Saturday, October 19th at Gas South Arena, facing off against the Indy Fuel.
