The Toledo Walleye have re-signed forward Colby Ambrosio for the 2025–26 ECHL season. After making his debut late last year, the 22-year-old from Welland, Ontario now prepares for his first full professional campaign.

Ambrosio quickly made his presence felt after joining the Walleye in 2024–25. He recorded eight points (3G, 5A) and a +1 rating in 12 regular-season games. Notably, he stepped up in the postseason, contributing 11 points (4G 7A) and a +3 in 18 playoff games. He delivered a standout performance in Game One of the Central Division Semifinals, dishing out four assists (Toledo Walleye, 2025).

Collegiate Background and Draft History

Prior to turning pro, Ambrosio played five NCAA seasons—four with Boston College and one as a graduate student at Miami University (OH). He recorded 20 points (7G, 13A) and 45 penalty minutes in 34 games during his final collegiate year. In total, he appeared in 172 NCAA games, compiling 86 points (35G, 51A) and 85 penalty minutes (Toledo Walleye, 2025).

The Colorado Avalanche selected Ambrosio in the fourth round (#118 overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft. Earlier in his development, he played two seasons in the USHL with the Tri-City Storm, showing early signs of the speed and creativity he brings to the pro level.

Looking Ahead

The Walleye will open their 2025–26 season on the road on Saturday, October 18th, against the Indy Fuel at Fishers Event Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM EDT. Ambrosio’s speed and offensive instincts will be a key piece of the lineup as Toledo looks to build off last year’s deep playoff push.
