The Kansas City Mavericks are losing another forward as Cole Coskey is heading overseas to play in Slovakia. Coskey, a former seventh-round pick of the New York Islanders in the 2019 Draft, would spend his first pro season at the AHL level with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, playing in 16 games while putting up three goals and two assists for five points, the following season his time would be split between the Worcester Railers and Bridgeport Sound Tigers, in 25 games in Bridgeport he would put up five assists and with the Railers he put up ten goals and 23 assists for 33 points in 35 games in what would be his final year in the organization. Coskey would sign with the Kansas City Mavericks prior to the 2022-23 season, where he has spent his last two seasons putting up 42 goals and 54 assists for 96 points in 124 games and has five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 26 career Kelly Cup Playoff games all coming with the Mavs. Prior to going pro, the Illinois winger spent five seasons in the OHL with the Saginaw Spirit, where he put up 106 goals and 129 assists for 235 points in 302 games.
Coskey will be joining HK Poprad, which is the same team that Orrin Centazzo and Michal Mrazik signed with last year after Centazzo spent the 2023-24 season with the Toledo Walleye, and Mrazik, who took the 2023-24 season off, had spent the 2022-23 season with the Atlanta Gladiators. The 25-year-old forward becomes the third forward from the Mavericks to take the overseas route, joining Jacob Hayhurst and Jeremy McKenna.
