Connor Blake is heading overseas to France after spending just 16 games in the ECHL with the Adirondack Thunder and Idaho Steelheads. The Calgary native would play four seasons at Mount Royal University, where he put up 15 goals and 71 assists for 86 points in 104 games. He would win the Outstanding Student-Athlete of the Year in 2023 and would follow it up next year by winning the UBC Hockey Alumni Trophy for Sportsmanship and Ability. Blake would join the Steelheads at the beginning of March and would play in just three games with Idaho before being put on waivers and claimed by the Adirondack Thunder.
The 25-year-old two-way player would find a role with the Thunder, seeing action in 13 games while putting up two goals and two assists for four points. He would play in 15 Kelly Cup Playoff Games while putting up three assists. Blake seemed to play a big part for the Thunder as he was a guy that they could plug in either up front or on the blueline and would find a way to chip in on the Thunders’ success. Blake is just the second player from Adirondack to take the overseas route after Patrick Grasso announced he was heading to Austria earlier this Summer. It will be interesting to see how Head Coach and Hockey Operations Pete MacArthur decides to fill these two vacant roles, as Adirondack is one of many teams that have yet to announce their first signing, however recently extended MacArthur through the 2025-26 season.
