The Utah Grizzlies have announced that they have re-signed 5’7” forward Craig Armstrong for the 2025-26 ECHL season.
Junior Career
Craig Armstrong began his junior career in the WHL during the 2018–19 season, splitting time between the Prince George Cougars and the Red Deer Rebels. Over 220 WHL games, he recorded 31 goals and 59 assists for 90 points, along with 173 penalty minutes and a -9 rating.
He went on to play a season with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens in the QMJHL, where he served as an alternate captain. In 67 regular-season games, Armstrong tallied 17 goals and 22 assists for 39 points, added 43 penalty minutes, and finished with a -3. During the playoffs, he contributed two goals and five assists for seven points in eight games, with a +3 rating and two penalty minutes.
Professional Career
After completing his junior career, Armstrong signed in the ECHL with the Utah Grizzlies where he spent the 2024-25 season. Armstrong played in 64 games where he had seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points with 23 penalty minutes and a -3.
Though Armstrong is not the biggest forward, his speed allows him to be sprung on breakaways more easily. Armstrong should be a great addition to the Grizzlies’ offensive team. He settled in with the Grizzlies pretty well last season and should continue to find his offensive game throughout the 2025-26 season.
Looking Ahead
The Utah Grizzlies will open the 2025–26 season on the road. They will face off against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits on Friday, October 17th, at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 PM EDT (5:05 PM MDT). With Craig Armstrong entering his second professional season, the Grizzlies will look to start strong and build early momentum as they return to action.
